On Monday, June 6, 2022 at 1 PM ET, the first-ever Calaxy Collectibles NFT Pack drop will go live via the Calaxy web application.

In order to participate, you’ll need to have a Calaxy account via an early access code. (Have your 12-word seed phrase handy, as you’ll be prompted to enter it to access the web app.) You’ll also need to be in the U.S., Canada or Mexico and use a Visa or Mastercard to purchase.

The drop features 26 total packs, each containing a 1-of-1 Collectible featuring Myro. (You might recognize him from the Calaxy logo.) One pack will run you $26.

Each of the Collectibles was artfully crafted by our Chief Design Officer Chadd Weston, who used each NFT to tell a small piece of the brief-but-rich history of Myro, Calaxy and Web3 more broadly.

Check out a preview and description of each NFT below and good luck in the drop on Monday. These bad boys are gonna go fast.

NFT #1: Meet Myro

Meet Myro

Meet “Myro” (R2K-26). Myro is the ultimate fan across the entire Creator’s Galaxy. He has come from the planet Hat-P-7b, which is located in the Cygnus constellation, about 1000 light years from Earth — a place where it famously “rains rubies and sapphires” (true story). Myro is the face of $CLXY, the official governance token of The Creator’s Galaxy Protocol, built on Hedera Hashgraph. Myro is also the brand symbol for Calaxy, the Open Social Marketplace For Creators, By Creators. Calaxy is the first project launched on the Creator’s Galaxy Protocol.

NFT #3: Hat Flip Myro

Hat Flip Myro (Preview only, full MP4 is 2703 × 2718)

In March 2021, I commissioned the work of a brilliant lottie file animator by the name of Christina Melnichuk, who has helped bring Myro to life. “Hat Flip Myro” was my first request, where I got on a Zoom call and…with a bunch of animated hand gestures…tried to articulate the movement of Myro’s hat as he bounced up and flipped his hat backward. Christina nailed it on the first pass and I knew I had found what I was looking for. Myro’s hat flip animation greets you in two places: 1) On the splash screen of the app, and 2) when you tap the Myro “Floating Action Button” (FAB) on the app’s feed views. Christina has since completed a number of subsequent micro-interaction animations that will soon be introduced in the app.

“Hat Flip Myro” represents my commitment to delivering a light, fun, immersive experience for crypto degenerates and newbies alike.

NFT #4: “It‘s me, Myro”

“Its-a me, Myro”

“It’s me, Myro” represents the many layers of credentials that can exist as part of an autonomous individual’s Decentralized Identity (DID) on Web3 protocols. This work represents the hope DID brings to making your data once again, yours. You decide where it will live, who (or what) has access, and when. Calaxy is actively exploring a wallet setup that will not only house tokens and NFTs, but also “Creds” (short for credentials) — identity assets that you control and own. Our work in this area is credited to Paul Madsen, Calaxy’s Head of Identity. Paul was partly responsible for the creation of OAuth (Sign in with Google, Twitter, etc). He was also an early employee at Hedera and knows a thing or three about identity management. We’re grateful to have Paul in our corner.

NFT #5: Blank Slate Myro

Blank Slate Myro

On February 24, 2022: I officially open sourced Myro’s use under Creative Commons License “CCO.” This move was, in part, so that Myro could become the icon of $CLXY (the governance token of The Creator’s Galaxy Protocol) and encourage its use more broadly in the ecosystem. “Blank Slate Myro” is an invitation to future developers to come build cool stuff on the Creator’s Galaxy Protocol. I can’t wait to see what you make.

NFT #6: RGB Myro

RGB Myro

Digital art is primarily in RGB color coding. “RGB Myro” is an ode to the digital art NFT community and an extension of warm welcome to Calaxy. On Calaxy, Non-Fungible Tokens are referred to as “Collectibles.” Under the hood, these are Hedera Token Service (HTS) assets, which means minting NFTs on Calaxy will happen in seconds, for little to no cost.

NFT #7: Golden Myro

Golden Myro

Bitcoin was the first and original (OG) decentralized digital currency (cryptocurrency) ever created back in 2008 by an unknown person (or group of people) named Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin is transferred peer-to-peer on the Bitcoin blockchain utilizing a proof-of-work model. Transacting on the Bitcoin network is prohibitively expensive and slow for everyday purchases. For example, the average transaction settlement time is 10 minutes. Imagine having to wait 10 minutes at the coffee shop for your purchase to go through — you’d be done your coffee! The network can only handle about five transactions per second (TPS). To put this in perspective, the VISA network can handle 65,000 TPS. It is for these reasons Bitcoin is widely considered a much better store of value (think long term savings) than an everyday currency you buy your coffee with.

“Golden Myro” is a metaphorical tip-of-the-hat to the OG — Bitcoin (BTC) — as digital gold. It is a popular opinion that Bitcoin will eventually replace bullion as the world’s preferred store-of-value.

NFT #8: SuperRarible Myro

SuperRarible Myro

“SuperRarible Myro” represents the interoperability aspirations of the Calaxy platform. “SuperRarible” is a play on words that suggests the ability of Myro (or any NFT asset) to live and be displayed on your marketplace of choice via NFT import/export features (such as “Superare” or “Rarible” Ethereum-based NFT marketplaces).

NFT #9: Ice Age Myro

Ice Age Myro

In Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols there is one metric that is often paid attention to the most: TVL (Total Value Locked), which represents the total amount of staked crypto in a network earning or unlocking a benefit for their holders. This could be interest/yield, rewards, access to exclusive groups and more. Calaxy is actively exploring staking models that would incentivize users to stake Creator tokens in exchange for scarce benefits from that Creator.

“Ice Age Myro” represents the significance of the TVL metric (frozen assets) as an important signal to the health of a DeFi protocol, and Calaxy’s aspirations to eventually enable DeFi plays for Creators and their fans.

NFT #10: Myros on Myro on Myros

Myros on Myro on Myros

“Myros on Myro on Myros” speaks to the fully alive ecosystem of development projects on The Creator’s Galaxy Protocol, fueling its growth and adoption over time. Each Myro in the background represents a project. The large Pink Myro is Calaxy, the original project on the protocol (OG). And the Myros within the “Calaxy Myro” are Creator economies powered by Creator social tokens minted on Calaxy.

NFT #11: Pixel Perfect Myro

In June 2017, two Canadian software developers (Matt Hall and John Watkinson), under the group name “Larva Labs Studio,” minted 10,000 randomly generated “CryptoPunks” NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.

“CryptoPunks” is widely credited as being one of only a handful of projects that started the NFT insanity 2021. According to CNBC, the year 2021 saw $17.6 billion in NFT sales — a 21,000% increase from 2020. CryptoPunk #7523 sold for approximately $11.8 million, while CryptoPunk #3100 sold for $7.7 million. As of the time of this writing, the “CryptoPunks” NFT Collection has a market cap of $1 Billion, with the cheapest “Punk” available for $99,850.00 (dappradar.com).

A defining visual characteristic of these CryptoPunks is their heavy pixelation. “Pixel Perfect Myro” is a tribute to the CryptoPunk collection, and it’s significant role in popularizing digital art NFTs.

NFT #12: Gameboy Myro

Gameboy Myro

The worldwide gaming community is absolutely massive, and growing like gangbusters. As of the time of this writing, the global gaming industry is worth $180 billion, a figure larger than the music and movie industries combined — and it’s the fastest growing form of entertainment globally.

Given the explosion of NFTs in the crypto space in recent years, it seems inevitable that these two worlds would intersect.. and they have. In 2021, we saw the growth of GameFi and NFTs in the blockchain world. The big draw is stuff like being able to personally own in-game assets (like swords and weapons, attire, special powers, etc.) that you can take with you off the game and sell on an NFT marketplace. The intermingling of crypto in the gaming industry also unlocks really cool tokenomics /incentive structures and the ability to earn crypto from playing.

In terms of momentum and growth: as of the time of this writing, Axie Infinity is the world’s top NFT game, generating $1.3 billion in revenue in 2021. 2021 also saw a doubling in active game development from 200 to 400 projects.

“Gameboy Myro” captures the energy and excitement around the explosion of crypto gaming and the paradigm shifts that will likely ensue as a result. Calaxy is actively exploring this sector and potential marketplace features that will help gamers setup shop with their in-game assets.

NFT #13: Iron Myro

Iron Myro

If you look at any of Spencer Dinwiddie’s social profiles, you’ll see the slogan “Tech Guy With A Jumper” (he wrote it himself). Spencer has never been shy about his nerd side, and “Iron Myro” is a token of this “dual personality.” In June 2020, Spencer approached me to design a personal logo for him, and when I asked what kind of stuff he was into, he wouldn’t stop talking about Iron Man (and Lakers purple, because he loves Kobe). Iron Man is by far his favorite comic book superhero and continues to serve as the inspiration behind much of my work with Spencer and the Calaxy project.

NFT #14: “Hey Myro…”

“Hey Myro…” (Preview only, full MP4 is 2160 × 2160)

One of my favorite artificial intelligence movies is Ex Machina — I’m fascinated by the notion of the Turing Test — where a (real) human can’t tell an AI is not a real human — and cautiously optimistic about the potential for AI in many different arenas, including crypto.

“Hey Myro” is a play on Apple’s “Hey Siri” which, albiet a primitive form of AI, is on its way to providing an easier and more accessible user experience at scale. Calaxy isn’t anywhere near a Myro version of Siri, but I wouldn’t put it outside the realm of possibilities in the future. Bringing Web3 mainstream I anticipate will require all the help we can get.. including AI.

NFT #15: Main Stage Myro

Main Stage Myro

It is my dream that Myro one day becomes a cultural icon, a symbol synonymous with the Creator Economy on Web3, where Creator’s truly own the connection with their fans (vs. big bossy intermediaries) and make their living off of direct monetization with their most loyal fanbase. “Main Stage Myro” is a testament to this vision. I would love to one day see Myro headlining on the screen at Tomorrowland behind a Calaxy Creator during their live set.

NFT #16: Showtime Myro

Showtime Myro

Two Calaxy Creators were cast in Season 30 of Dancing With The Stars — Matt James (The Bachelor, paired with Lindsay Arnold), and Iman Shumpert (NBA star, paired with Daniella Karagach). Iman & Daniella ended up winning the whole thing, making Iman the first NBA player in history to make the finale and win.

“Showtime Myro” represents the diverse “lights, camera, action” live event theatrical talent on the Calaxy platform, from music artists, play writes, live theatre, movie stars, to TV show cast members and more…its our goal for Calaxy to one day become the go-to place to reach the stars.

NFT #17: Sweater Weather Myro

Sweater Weather Myro

“Sweater Weather Myro” is a shoutout to the Canadian residents on the Calaxy team, which — as of the time of this writing — include myself, Paul Madsen (our Head of Identity) and Mike Busby (our lead designer). Fun fact: Mike is actually English but he plays enough ice hockey to have any Canadian convinced he’s from here. The color of the threads in this NFT are the brand colors of a popular Canadian comfort-wear brand called “Roots Canada,” which you will see being fashioned in our winter cabins by a wood burning fire, while we brunch on pancakes with our Canadian Maple Syrup sapped from a nearby tree, politely apologizing to each other any chance we can get. Quite the life eh? Come visit! It’s aboot time.

NFT #18: Live Love Myro

Live Love Myro

You don’t have to hang out with basketball players for very long, or look very far, before you see a peace ✌️ sign on some swag. This is the logo of Deuce Brand — a budding apparel company out of San Diego, California. Founded in 2010 by Tom Malloy and Gary Hughes — Deuce brand has grown to dominate the global basketball scene, striking collab partnerships with a number of the league’s top players, including Spencer. Spencer’s piece is a blue silicon wristband that says “BE LIKE WATER,” which he wears at every game (along with a clear Deuce x Calaxy silicon wristband on one wrist, and a purple Deuce x Calaxy silicon band on the other).

Spencer recently introduced me to Gary, and we’ve been working on a CALAXY x DEUCE apparel line that will initially be distributed to friends & family of the early team members, along with the first 100 Calaxy Creators. It’s my goal to setup an online shop soon after for the general public. One thing we’re exploring is combining an NFT with each swag purchase that gets sent directly to your Calaxy wallet.

”Live Love Myro” is a limited edition hoodie — part of the initial design set I worked on for Gary to send to production. The floating hearts from the bottom waste band mimic the floating hearts you see on an insta story live stream when lots of people are liking the stream at the same time. The red color dye for the hoodie is the exact red HEX code used for error states in the Calaxy App.

CALAXY x DEUCE initial production is expected to commence in the summer of 2022.

NFT #19: Myro Jersey Patch

Myro Jersey Patch

During the offseason of 2021, Spencer bid $12 million to have Myro as the official jersey patch of the team he was playing for at the time for the upcoming 2022 season. The league turned him down. A short time later it was announced that the Lakers’ LeBron James had entered into a multi-year deal with crypto.com. What gives? We’re not sure, exactly. What we do know is that this was yet another chapter in the book of Spencer’s crypto pioneering spirit bumping up against the NBA…reminiscent of his 2018 contract securitization debacle with the league, in which he eventually prevailed.

“Myro Jersey Patch” is the long lost emblem that was just not meant to be… at least at the time. Will it make a comeback? Only time will tell..

NFT #20: Contract Myro

Contract Myro

On September 12, 2019: Spencer announced that he planned to go public with $SD8 — a token offered by his company DREAM Fan Shares — that would allow US-accredited investors to buy into his then three-year, $34.4 million NBA contract with the Brooklyn Nets. This process is known as “securitization” — essentially unlocking fractional ownership of an asset (which in this case was Spencer’s contract).

On September 27, 2019: The NBA notified Spencer that he could not tokenize his contract. They issued the following statement to The New York Times: “According to recent reports, Spencer Dinwiddie intends to sell investors a ‘tokenized security’ that will be backed by his player contract. The described arrangement is prohibited by the C.B.A., which provides that ‘no player shall assign or otherwise transfer to any third party his right to receive compensation from the team under his uniform player contract.’”

On that same day, Spencer got on the phone with the league to arrange a meeting to try and change their minds on that day’s ruling. “When I was on the phone with the league, I told them it wasn’t an assignment. And they invited me to sit down with them and explain the offering, which is what I’m going to do.”

After months of back and forth, Spencer announced on Jan 10, 2020 that he would be moving forward with his $SD8 token sale — marking the first securitized contract in NBA history, and serving as a viable proof-of-concept for tokenization of an asset like this. Solo Ceesay — Wharton alum and then-Wall Street securitization banker at Citi Group — was working with Spencer behind the scenes on this deal. Their time together marked the beginning of a partnership that has carried forward in the co-founding of Calaxy Inc.

“Contract Myro” is a tribute to Spencer’s tech ambitions and more specifically his pioneering character in the crypto space both on and off the court. The paper mache-style newspaper scraps are of all the headlines around the time this story was taking place. Myro is cut out of the opening page of the Private Placement Memorandum sent to all participating accredited investors, dated July 7, 2020.

NFT #21: Hashgraph Myro

Hashgraph Myro

On March 13, 2018: Hedera Hashgraph held their inaugural launch event in New York City near Times Square. The stage was set for Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-Founder & Chief Scientist at Hedera Hashgraph and Mance Harmon, Co-Founder and CEO to put rival protocols on notice as they introduced Hashgraph, Hedera’s asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerant (ABFT) gossip protocol (Distributed Ledger Technology or “DLT”), touting 10,000+ Transactions Per Second (TPS), an average fee of $0.0001, and an average settlement time of 3–5 seconds. On March 13, 2018.. Hedera was put on the map.

New York is also home to NFT.NYC (the world’s leading annual Non-Fungible Token Event as of the time of this writing), so I thought it was only fitting to create “Hashgraph Myro” emanating a Hashgraph energy pattern from the ground at Times Square. In this piece, Myro is tightly intertwined with Hashgraph connoting the technical integrations Calaxy has with the Hedera Token Service (HTS) and Hedera Consensus Service (HCS).

It was only two months prior to the Hedera Launch event that Dapper Labs CEO Roham Gharegozlou delivered a TED talk from Vienna talking about the four major barriers to crypto mainstream adoption:

  1. Speed
  2. Scale
  3. Cost
  4. UX

By utilizing HTS and HCS integrations respectively, Calaxy has the first three of these barriers solved out of the box. Unprecedented speed, unrivaled scale, and next-to-nothing transaction costs are built in. It is for these reasons that Calaxy is Built on Hedera.

NFT #22: Green Tea Frap Myro

Green Tea Frap Myro

On August 24, 2018 — Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-Founder & Chief Scientist at Hedera Hashgraph and Mance Harmon, Co-Founder and CEO, descended on their favorite Starbucks in Austin, TX to officially launch $HBAR, the native token of Hedera Hashgraph. A total of 50 Billion $HBAR were minted on genesis day and was captured on a launch video:

It quickly became know by early Hedera employees that Mance’s favorite drink is the Green Tea Frappuccino. One of those early employees was Cooper Kunz, who is now as of the time of this writing, Chief Technology Officer of Calaxy Inc. and white paper author and core contributor to the Creator’s Galaxy Protocol.. which uses Hedera’s HTS and HCS services.

Cooper also happens to reside in Austin, TX — so on April 18, 2022, Cooper descended upon that very same Starbucks, ordered the same Green Tea Frap, sat down at the same patio table as Mance and Leemon did a few years prior, and proceeded to hit the launch button on his laptop to mint 1 Billion $CLXY, the native governance token of The Creator’s Galaxy protocol — marking the official genesis of $CLXY into circulation from the exact spot HBAR was born.

Several of Hedera’s early employees and core contributors work at Calaxy Inc. and are now core contributor’s to the Creator’s Galaxy Protocol, in addition to Hedera Hashgraph. “Green Tea Frap Myro” commemorates this shared history and unique relationship between Hedera Hashgraph, Calaxy Inc. and The Creator’s Galaxy Protocol.

NFT #23: Codename Myro

Codename Myro

On July 28, 2020 the first 1,000 lines of Calaxy code were completed in DartLang and git-committed by Austin Shepherd & Ryan Leckley (better known as “mehcode”), engineering leads at LaunchBadge — Calaxy’s development house at the time of writing. When I asked Austin what the code does he said, “The code was mostly boilerplate and scaffolding and the first whispers of a login system.”

This NFT is built from that first 1,000 lines of code. It took me 13 hours to make. Second longest NFT in the Meet Myro: An Origin Story Collection aside from the Myro Metaverse 3D scene (four days). It involved getting a minified C++ file from Austin, text-wrapping it in the shape of Myro, and manually recoloring more than 2,000 characters to re-create a colored syntax theme…akin to what you would see in a code editor. And in traditional early stage beta product fashion…it’s full of bugs.

“Codename Myro” is a nod to the many thousands of hours the engineers have poured into the building of Calaxy, and the (many, many more) thousands of lines of code written to bring this project to life. Cooper Kunz, Jason Fabritz, Brett Frank, Paul Madsen, as well as everyone over at LaunchBadge — no amount of Canadian maple syrup will fully capture how much I appreciate you guys.

Thank you for putting up with my chaos.

NFT #24: Birthday Blooper Myro

Birthday Blooper Myro (Preview only, full MP4 is 1080 x 1080)

On April 6, 2021, I made this NFT called “Myro: Founder’s Edition” for Spencer’s 28th birthday gift from the Calaxy team. It was minted on Rarible by our CTO Cooper Kunz (as of the time of this writing) because Calaxy’s NFT infrastructure wasn’t yet built. The plan was to air drop it to an Ethereum wallet address Spencer was going to provide us.

Except…he never did (lol too busy playing basketball, I guess).

So, we decided to include this NFT as part of the collection. If you now hold this NFT…congratulations! You can thank Spencer — you now have his 28th birthday present from us at Calaxy 🎉.

Important Note:

To maintain historical authenticity…this Birthday Blooper Myro ****NFT is just a representation of the real (OG) NFT that we will send the rightful owner. Once this collection is sold out, a member of Calaxy will be in touch with the rightful owner via Calaxy App to arrange the transfer of the original Rarible NFT minted back in April 2021 to an Ethereum wallet of the owner’s choice. Kindly note that if you have just purchased this representative NFT on a secondary marketplace…you do not necessarily get access to the (OG) version, which is a completely separate NFT on the Ethereum network.

NFT #25: Myro Metaverse

Myro Metaverse (Preview only, full MP4 is 2304 x 2304)
Myro Metaverse (Screenshot)

“Myro Metaverse” is an isometric 3D scene I built in four days using spline.design (s/o to the spline team btw — super cool app) that captures “a little bit of everything” surrounding Myro’s story so far. This includes his home planet (Hat-P-7B) in the Cygness constellation where its storm system is famous for raining rubies and sapphires, to some of the other Myro NFTs in the collection, to Myro Island in a planet-like construct, and of course, token cards — a marquee feature of the Calaxy app wallet. Oh…and Myro!

“Myro Metaverse” is NFT #25 in the 26-piece collection, second-to-last only to “Gametime Myro” because in many ways this NFT is a reflection of the collection itself, and the origin story that is still very much being written…and not just by us, but by you — a valued member of our early adopter community. Calaxy would be a fraction of what it is today if it wasn’t for the awesome community of fans, #hbarbarians, Creators, advisors, investors, $CLXY token HODLers, developers and any one else out there rooting for Calaxy’s success. From the bottom of my ❤️, thank you. Now let’s keep building the #hellofuture we all want to see. 🤝 #wagmi

NFT #26: Gametime Myro

Gametime Myro

On Thursday April 21, 2022 at 5:36 PM ET, Spencer texted me this photo from the away locker room at Vivint Smart Home Arena — it was only a few hours until Game 3 of the opening round of the NBA playoffs between the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz. Myro was about to make his on-court debut. And, boy, was it a good game. Spencer put up 20 points and absolutely posterized Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert (highlight here as of the time of this writing) en route to a 126–118 victory. This same shoe was also worn in Game 4 on April 23. The Mavs went on to win the series.
